Resilience is a person’s ability to face and appropriately overcome the difficulties and hardships of life, in a way which they can be positively changed and strengthened by the experience.
Islands of the Future l presents five real stories of people and groups involved in initiatives with a high impact of resilience and which offer alternatives to the current economic and social model. The five stories are a reflection of a society transitioning in its approach to dealing with the problems caused by a society which has exceeded the boundaries of social, economic and environmental sustainability. The following organizations are featured on the film: Green building, permaculture, eco-school and consumer cooperatives, the film also features the theoretical discourse between economist Toni Riera and Jonathan Dawson, the director of economics at the Schumacher College and one of the authors of the curriculum education Gaia.
